DisplayName does not render on device

I can get a text object to render plain text and dynamic text inclusions EXCEPT for DisplayName. 

I can get DisplayName to work in Lens Studio fine but it's broken when I test on my iPhone 12 Pro. Both the dynamic text (DisplayName) and any other text in the block do not render.

to replicate:

  • create a new project
  • add a text object
  • add DisplayName dynamic-text to the text

Curious if this is an API bug, a known limitation, or an issue with my setup.

Mac OS 11.5.2, Lens Studio 4.14 (and 4.10), iOS 15.3.1 (and 15.2.1)

    Hey Eric,

    I asked for some more details on the ticket you submitted. I'm not able to replicate the issue myself. Usually issues with dynamic text are due to privacy permissions but Display Name shouldn't be affected by that.

    So only I can replicate this issue. When I publish everyone else can see the DisplayName rendered. I cannot see the DisplayName on my Snapchat account on an iPhone 12 Max nor on an iPhone 6s. I suspect it's an issue between DisplayName API and the Name on my account (Which is "Eric Bintner", no unusual characters or anything). It's very odd.

    open ~/Library/Preferences/Snap/Lens\ Studio/ %LOCALAPPDATA%\Snap\Lens Studio Copy Text
  • Press ReturnEnter to run the command. The Lens Studio folder will automatically open
  • Prepare to upload your files: zip the "Log" Folder by right-clicking and choosing "compress."
    Locate the Log.txt file right above it.
