Unable to add Face Mask to Face Insert

I want to facepaint or makeup to a face-- without having the face move. Essentially, I'm using the faceinsert to center my face around where a head would be on a portrait (George Washington for example). I also am using facepaint to put George's face on my own. However, I cannot figure out how to combine the two effects. When I have them both active, the facepaint is floating (eyeless and mouthless) nowhere near the faceinsert.

I'm aware that this is possible- because I've seen it. It however isn't common. 

I've followed advice in documentation, and on the forms but nothing works. The advice may have been for a previous version of Lens Studio.
