I made a transparent video and used it as a "billboard" object. The video and sound all work correctly except the transparent parts of the video just show up as black. I tried using different blending modes but they all seemed to change the video too much and they all affected the other parts of the video.

I don't think a transparent mp4 video is possible so it will have to show up with a black background
MP4 videos do not support transparency unfortunately. You can try using the chromeKey material. Set the key color to your background color and you should get the transparent background effect you intend to have.
