  • Hey Alex Scale,

Can you provide an image or video of what you are seeing?

    Cheers,
    Vincent

    Hey Vincent Tang!
Here is a video where I recorded the bug. The first hair material is with a edited material where I changed the color. It looks like that on mobile, but not in the viewport. When I grab an material which is default, not edited, the blur works. Thanks!

I added a video where you can see the edited material (hair_brown) without the blur/not working and the non edited material  (Hair_Pomegranate) with blur/working

EDIT: After re-opening the project, the blur also breaks in the previewer. I added a screenshot and the project in the drive.

  • Hey Alex Scale,

Where are you getting this hair material from? I'm not seeing the Blur Multiplier slider which makes me think this is a copy from a legacy version before we added it properly. Do you have this issue if you create a default hair material in Lens Studio?

    Cheers,
    Vincent

  • Hey Vincent Tang

Interesting.. I just opent the hair simulation template. I dont see the default hair material, only these ones, they don't have the blur multiplier also:

Ill do a clean install and see if that works.

  • Vincent Tang clean install, deleted all the files in roaming and local to get a fresh new template. Still the same case, when I edit a material, the blur gets lost and no blur multiplier in the materials.

To clarify, the materials are from the template, I did not add anything. Can you send me a proper template/file/material to alex.scale@greenhousegroup.com ? I just need it working and a quick fix would be fine for now.

  • Hey Alex,

I did some testing and it looks like an issue with how the PC version of Lens Studio handles the material. I tried importing the version that is working on Mac and have the same issue. I've reached out to the devs to see if we have workaround you can use.

    Cheers,
    Vincent

  • Hey Alex Scale

We did some troubleshooting and the issue is likely with the shader not working correctly on PC. We are working on a fix but I couldn't say what the timeline would be on that.

The only reliable workaround I could find was to use the Mac version of Lens Studio where I cannot reproduce the issue despite my best efforts.

    Cheers,
    Vincent

  • Vincent Tang I can confirm that the template works properly on mac.

When I save the template on mac and send it to my work computer on windows, the hair material blur component inside the material disappears again. So the windows version does something which breaks the material or namespace maybe?

  • Hey Alex Scale,

I'm not certain of the exact cause but the team is looking into it. Thank you for flagging this bug.

  • Vincent Tang problem is solved thanks!

We only have a problem that uploading seems to give us an technical fault. Maybe it is related with this problem? Our log has no errors and the preview works just fine.
