Watermarks
I've made a handful of lenses now, and some of them have taken off. I think I have 100k total views now (which is a lot to me, I don't know about the community), and so I was wondering if it's against the rules to add a little watermark down at the bottom. For example my instagram username or similar stuff.
Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.
Hey!
First of all, congrats on getting 100.000 views!
What exactly do you mean by adding a watermark? Do you mean one, that's constantly showing up over your Lenses, or do you mean a small text that fades in and out when starting up the Lens?
Having a watermark over your Lenses at all times could seriously impact the reach the Lens has, and I personally wouldn't want to use a Lens that promotes someone else's social media account if you get what I mean. What I sometimes do is add a little text that says that the Lens was made by me, that quickly fades in and out and is not visible in the end photo at all, to not bother the user using the Lens.
I have no clue about promoting social media accounts like Instagram via Snapchat, but I wouldn't recommend it, as the chance that people would switch the app just to follow you would be relatively low.
In the little text that I wrote I tell the users that they can subscribe to me on Snapchat if they wish to see more of my Lenses.
If you have any further questions, feel free to reply to my comment and I will respond to you as soon as I see it!

I don't know if this'll register as an answer or a new comment but here it goes:
Thanks :)
I meant like a small tekst with my social media, which could flash in and out, yes. After reading your answer, I'm not sure that's such a good idea anymore 😩😁. The problem with a subscription type text is that I am under 18, and so my account can't be subscribed to... what a shame.
Out of curiosity, how many views do you have (if you'd like to share that).

That counts as both, I subscribed to the topic, so I will get an E-Mail notification every time someone comments on this post.
You could always have the text say that they could add you instead of subscribing. I've seen some results using that as well. I just wouldn't recommend linking any other social media, as it would drive the traffic away from Snapchat (and your Lenses).
I'm currently at a total of 77.85 million views on all of my Lenses.
But I have to say, the first 100.000 are the hardest to get. But you have passed that milestone already, so if you keep creating great Lenses you'll have your first 1.000.000 views in no time! :)
Wow, that's just insane.
Last question; have you seen any other benefits than having fun and seeing the numbers rise? I must admit that I get quite the rush when I see my lenses doing well, but I was wondering if there are any other bonuses.
Other than that, thank you so much for the positive and quick feedback😊❤️.
I personally love it, when people use my Lenses and I see that they enjoy them. I generally really enjoy talking to other Lens Creators as well. I‘ve also made a couple of friends on here as well!
As for bonuses, there are none directly. There is a chance to become a Creator for the Snap Network, which can be seen as a verified Lens Creator. That is an invite-only program that Snapchat themselves invite you to, including the top tier Lens Creators on this platform.
Of course I check out the numbers of my Lenses, but that isn‘t the main focus by far for me. I enjoy creating fun Lenses that people enjoy to use and I also love helping other Creators, so if you ever have a question, feel free to let me know and I‘ll help you as good as I can!
If you feel like adding me, my names ru.ian just make sure you send me a message and I‘ll add you back asap! :)
Also a tip for the future: Don‘t give up if your Lenses aren‘t doing as well as they used to. There will always be droughts on the way. And don‘t force yourself to create trendy Lenses. Create the type of Lenses that you enjoy the most!
Like Ian said, including your IG username probably won't actually result in many new followers over there.
The only username rule that Lens Studio has is that lens previews cannot contain usernames (some previews do, but technically it's against the submission guidelines).
If you do want to add a little message, I created a tutorial on how to do it. It has a long-winded introduction, so the link will start you at where the tutorial actually begins. My tips are to keep it simple and unobtrusive. The tutorial goes over how to make it disappear after a set amount of time as well as how to keep it out of the final image/video.
