Instead of changing texture in a material try to change textures in the Character Controller script attached to the Player [EDIT_ME] SceneObject. The script will update the materials for you

Also could you please report a Lens Studio crash in the popup dialog that appears on the next time you open the app?

Could you please  open a FixMeshAspectRatio.js script and replace its code with next :
