Snapchat video autoplay problem on iOS
Hi people,
We have a problem on iOS, autoplaying a video in the snapchat browser. It works fine on Android phones but not on iOS. We're guessing it's a WebKit vs. Chromium issue. The funny thing is that the video autoplays fine on Safari on iOS... just not on the Snapchat-browser. Does anybody have a clue on how to fix this? Is this Snapchat simply blocking autoplay-enabled video's on iOS but not Android?
Greetings,
D
Hey Dave,
How are you jumping into the Snapchat Browser? Via a Lens?
Thanks,
Kaitlyn
Hi Kaitlyn.
Right now we're jumping in through a snapcode, but eventually we have to jump into the browser through a lens.
Are there any differences in behaviours for different entrances?
Greetings,
D
Hey Dave,
Can you share the Snapcode you're jumping through? Then I can forward to the right engineering team to take a look.
Cheers,
Kaitlyn
Hello,
I've been searching for an answer to this exact problem for weeks now.
We have a web app which opens in Snapchat's browser via a Snapcode. The videos are muted, set to autoplay, and work perfectly on Android devices via the in-house Snapchat browser, and also in Safari on iOS and macOS.
When accessing on an iPhone using the Snapchat browser, videos will not autoplay, even when inline, muted, audio track removed, and autoplay enabled.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Al
