BUG? Changing the render layer of a instantiated prefab.

  • Hey weston.mitchell

The problem that you are having is not a bug and the reason is when you instantiate a prefab it will instantiate it and put it at the bottom of the objects panel as an object and it will use auto sort so your object will draw on top.

When you are setting the renderLayer using code, you need to make sure to apply that to all the children and not only the parent of the object.

The easiest way to fix the problem is to create a scene object and place it where you want to be as far as sorting.

Then instantiate your object and set it as a child of the scene object that you create before.

Here is the link to Object Prefab API guide.

Hope this will help you to fix the problem.

    Cheers,

    Amir
