Glow material?
Dear Lens users,
I was recently playing around with a 3D model of a Halo I made to use in Lens Studio. I was however unable to get a glowing effect, as none of my materials from Maya were able to be imported (tried 4 different glow textures on Maya, none worked on Lens :( ) I saw that apparently you can import PBR materials from Substance Painter but I highly doubt it's effectiveness after my own experience. Has anyone tried this? Is Lens even capable of a glow effect?
I also played with the settings within Lens, but at most you can turn on Rim Highlight which is not really at all a glow effect ^^°
TL;DR: how do I get my 3D model to emit light in Lens Studio? Is it even possible?
Cheers,
Boris
Hey Boris,
At this time there is no support for Bloom effect in Lens Studio but you can fake the effect easily which is more efficient also.
What you can do is to create another mesh in front of the object that you want to have a glow and then create a texture and apply to that to make it looks like its glowing.
For example I have a Torus that I want to have a glow effect on it. I create a cylinder around the torus and called it glow mesh.
Then you can bring them in Lens Studio and for the glow effect we need to create an unlit material and set the blend mode to normal and apply the glow texture to it.
Then you need to play with the values to get to however you like to.
As the result you can achieve the effects like this:

Amir
Hey,
Thanks a lot for the smart workaround! Will try it asap :D
