Animating Textures/ video importing
Would love the ability to import short videos to use as textures. it would be great for designer's who don't have a 3D workflow to be able to import their animations into Lens Studio as a video with alpha, and being able to place the video onto a mesh such as a plane.
Extremely impressed with how straightforward it is to use and can't wait to see how the Software Develops over time.
Cheers Guys!
I agree on all points !
Hey Matt,
Lens Studio currently does not have support for short videos. It does allow you to import image sequences (individual images that make up an animation) though. With the imported image sequence, the tool creates a sprite sheet for 2D animation playback.
To create an image sequence from a video, you can open the video in Photoshop. Then select File -> Export -> Render Video. Make sure "Photoshop Image Sequence" is selected and that you're exporting using either PNG or JPG. This will export each frame as an individual image.
Once you have an image sequence, follow the 2D animation guide to import it into Lens Studio.: https://lensstudio.snapchat.com/guides/2d/2d-animation/
Let me know if you have any trouble with this, otherwise happy creating!
Best,
Kaitlyn
Hi Kaitlyn,
The image sequence is a start but not fully ok because the lack of the sound. It would be great to be able to use h265 files with alpha channel.
Hi Raoul! In the latest version of Lens Studio, we do support video import. If you want to get ride black background or green screen, you can try using the Chrome Key Shader. Let me if you have any questions!
I have also added h265 files with alpha channel support to our feature request list!
