Can't drag imported models from resources panel to object panel or to stage

Hi 

I'm new here...

I uploaded a few models into the resource panel. How do I add them to the scene? (world space, face binding, don't care) 

The only way I found is to import them straight into the scene or object panel. Then It adds the model both to the resources panel and to the objects panel. but when I delete the model from the scene I cannot drag it back from the resources and I have to upload it again (and set the materials).

What am I missing here?
