how to control amount of grain with a slider

  • Hey Rotem

You can use the tutorial from Ryan Shields by clicking here.

Then just connect the Graph Parameter with your slider.

  • first of all ty, but this is not wat I meant.    wat I am trying to figure out is how to basically control a yes screen image but a grain screen image that is not animated, and to control it  in an interactive UI SLIDER that the ppl using it can change the amount of grain on the lens.

  • I actually just made a tutorial going over almost exactly that, except in my case it is controlling the strength of a background blur. There'll be some differences in how your scene is setup, but you should be able to modify the script (very slightly, no major changes should be needed) to adjust the image opacity rather than the blur factor.

You can read the tutorial here with a link to a video version: https://learn.arbootcamp.com/snapchat-intermediate/adjustable-background-blur

  • The script in the video can be adapted to change any parameter on any material. In your case you can create a material for your image that has an opacity parameter, or you can modify the script to accept an image input rather than a material input.

At the bottom of the Image guide there is a "Set Alpha" scripting example. Instead of setting the blurFactor in the changeBlur function in my script, you would use the example code snippet to set the opacity of the image (and make sure the multiplier is set to 1 or removed from the script).
