hi Francis Chen
to access a material parameter
1 : click on the Material
2 : on the Inspector Panel put the mouse on the property you wanna change you will notice a notification popup
like in image bellow
roughness is the variable name we need to use in scripting to control that property
// @input Asset.Material post1
script.post1.mainPass. = 0.5;
very simple
i hope that helped you
Cheers
how u do it as a string ?
//@input Asset.Material Gmaterial
//@input string Parameter
script.Gmaterial.mainPass.(script.Parameter) = .5; don't work
Hi Calvin Wayne
The parameter should be a local variable so it doesn’t start with (script.)
So the code should be
//@input Asset.Material Gmaterial
//@input string value
script.Gmaterial.mainPass.Parameter= Script.value;
not what i was wanting, but Jonathan got it for me. In case anyone stumbles upon this post and wants to script it as a string the solution is to use brackets.
//@input Asset.Material Gmaterial
//@input string Parameter
script.Gmaterial.mainPass[script.Parameter] = two;
This way the script is not tied down to a specific parameter, u can use the same script for adjusting different parameters. For instance im using the Edge detection Material and the ui sliders. I can just duplicate the sliders and type in which parameter i wanna adjust. And use the ui slider for color adjust. I multiplied it by 2 so the slider is 0-2.
im sure there is a easier way, but it works and did what i wanted :)
