Snap Camera Compatibility

Greetings community,

I am a teacher at a high school that has transitioned to online because of the pandemic. We are currently using Zoom but the virtual background feature does not work well on our school computers. There are issues with scholars not wanting to enable cameras because of their living situations. 

I have been investigating Snap Camera as an alternative as it appears to work better. I am unable to officially run it on my machine because I lack admin capability, but after some unofficial testing I thought it would be worthwhile to create lenses that we could use in class. 

I build my lens, without going through the tutorials, off of the Segmentation Controller but slightly modified to allow me to preload a set of background images from our school that you can tap through.

This works in Lens Studio in desktop mode and also works on the app in my phone. But it doesn't appear to work in Snap Camera. Do you have any thoughts on what I have done wrong?

    Hi Stephen,

    The Lens is working in our latest version of Snap Camera. We recently updated - have you downloaded the latest version here? If it's still not working, can you send a screenshot of what you are seeing?

  • Copy and paste this text into your TerminalCommand Window
    open ~/Library/Preferences/Snap/Lens\ Studio/ %LOCALAPPDATA%\Snap\Lens Studio Copy Text
  • Press ReturnEnter to run the command. The Lens Studio folder will automatically open
  • Prepare to upload your files: zip the "Log" Folder by right-clicking and choosing "compress."
    Locate the Log.txt file right above it.

Unfortunately, it's likely due to the operating system or hardware you're using – since they don't meet the system requirements for Lens Studio.

Hardware: Minimum of Intel Core i3 2.5Ghz or AMD Phenom II 2.6Ghz with 4 GB RAM; Intel HD Graphics 4000 / Nvidia GeForce 710 / AMD Radeon HD 6450 or better; screen resolution of 1280x768 or higher
