How to check visibility of the sprite?

  • Hi Markus!

    There isn't a way to track whether or not a transparent sprite to the eye's pupil is visible or not. What are you trying to achieve? maybe there is a workaround :)

  • Hi, Jon!

    I want to track blinking (like, when the user closes his left or right eye). I haven't found any event for that, only for changing eye color - but I'm not sure if it can be used for that...

    Regards,

    Markus

  • Hi Markus,

    You can do this by using the Head Binding component and putting one on the top eyelid and another one on bottom eyelid, then getting the distance between these two points. If the distance is under the certain amount trigger your function.

    // @input SceneObject topEyelid
    // @input SceneObject bottomEyelid

    var distanceToTrigger = 1.0  //Try to customize the value

    function getDistance( pointA, pointB )
    {
         return pointA.distance( pointB );
    }

    function onUpdateEvent( eventData )
    {
    if(script.topEyelid && script.bottomEyelid)
    {
          var dist = getDistance( script.topEyelid.getTransform().getWorldPosition(), script.bottomEyelid.getTransform().getWorldPosition() );
          if(dist < distanceToTrigger)
          {
                 //trigger custom function
          }
    }
    }
    var updateEvent = script.createEvent( "UpdateEvent" );
    updateEvent.bind( onUpdateEvent );

    Let me know if you need any clarification! Can't wait to see what you come up with.

    Cheers,

    Jon
