Snap Camera on Windows Limits and Extensibility
I'm loving the new Windows Snap Camera app and some of the abilities that it opens up!
But it does seem limited in some areas...
-Is there any way to adjust the webcam settings in the Snap Camera App? For example I'm using a 4K logitech BRIO webcam. Snap Camera seems to be using it in a lower resolution - most other webcam apps have the ability to adjust the resolution.
-Are there any plans for a control API or any other ways to control the settings (switch lenses, turn lens on/off, etc.) from 3rd party programs, besides the hotkeys?
Thanks!
Hi David,
Currently, it is not possible to adjust the webcam settings in Snap Camera, but I can let the engineers know your desire to do so. As for control of settings, you can assign hotkeys to any Lens in the Snap Camera settings (follow the Settings guide to learn how!), but there is no API to control these actions from 3rd part programs. What effects were you hoping to achieve with the hotkeys?
Best,
Kaitlyn
Hi Kaitlyn,
Thanks for the info. We are looking at integrating this with our photobooth software, allowing users to select and use lenses. Our software primarily works off of a touchscreen, so keyboard based hotkeys are not ideal for our integration. Also, there is currently no way for the users to see what lenses they are selecting without going back and forth between our app and the camera snap app.
Thanks again,
David
Now that the resolution selector is implemented in Snap Camera for Windows, can you confirm that it allows you to select 4k?
