Possible to increase rate of checking for taps?
Hey Snap Team,
Loving Lens Studio so far. I have a Lens right now that has 4 on-screen billboard buttons, and with my current scripting, the buttons can only detect and play about 2 taps a second (each one triggers an audio clip).
The Lens is running at a solid 30fps, and only 75mb ram at most.
Is there a way to increase this? I've searched and searched, and seem to hit a wall. Thanks team!
Hi! Glad to hear you're enjoying Lens Studio. If you're trying to detect touches at a faster rate, you may want to try the Touch Start event instead of Tapped. Touch Start will fire the very instant any touch is detected. Tapped is better for cases when you want to trigger a call back if the user has touched and released in a short period of time.
Let me know if that works for you!
Best,
Peter
Thanks for the reply Peter. It seems that taps are much much more responsive on the perspective camera than the orthographic. I can't for the life of me get billboard buttons to respond more than once or twice a second, even using touch started. Any idea if there is some different properties for billboard vs world colliders?
When testing on the orthographic camera, are you touching in exactly the same spot every single time? I ask because it's possible that the the billboards and touch meshes are aligned differently in orthographic vs perspective view.
