What I'd rather have is a way to detect a "performance class" of device (like low, mid, high) so I could turn on/off detail depending on what device it's running on.
I think a better solution would be to allow users to 'favorite' lenses so they can keep them for as long as the want. Otherwise your tray of lens effects will be filled with stuff.
