Use of Image Marker other...?

Hi, I have used a marker image of a bus pass. My idea is that the bus pass is scanned and an image of bus routes is to pop up and show a 2d image if you will. This creation has been fine. However my issue arrives on scanning the bus pass. I thought using an image of the bus pass for my ''marker image'' would mean if i were to scan on snapchat my lens would pop up immediately. However this is not the case? How would I go about making it if I scanned my bus pass my bus route appears thank you? Is there a sort of feature detection scan i'm unaware of. Thank you for your time
