Remove video background
Hi all,
I'm new to Lens Studio, and I would like to build something like this : https://twitter.com/i/status/1093268770729193472
I have a marker that people can scan. After scanning, a character should appear. For the moment I can display a simple vidéo, but I would like to have the character without any background, like Lebron James in the video. I know it's 3d, but is there any way to get the same effect with a video ?
And if yes, how is it possible ? I tried to import a .mov video with alpha, but Lens Studio doesn't support .mov. So is there any way to do it into Lens studio ?
Thanks by advance
Hi Quentin Icky,
We can definitely help you with your creation, but the example you linked to is a broken link. Can you screenshot the Lens?
Cheers,
Neha
Hi Neha,
Sorry I just jaw you message. Strange for the link, it worked few days ago but now I agree it's not working anymore.
In the posted video, there is a Lebron James 3D model who get out from a poster and come to "real world". I would like to create the same effect with a video with transparent background, but it seems to not be possible.
My idea was to scan an image, and then someone exit from this image to make hello to people who film. I tried with a png sequence and a .gif, but the result is not very clean.
If you have another idea it could be great but I think there is nothing that I can do without 3D model.
Thanks
Quentin
Hi Quentin,
You can do this by having a second video which is used as a mask. The second video should be the same as the first, except that the part you want to be transparent will be black, and everything else white.
Then, create a new unlit material:
Select it, and in the Inspector panel, set its blend mode to normal and enable Opacity Texture:
Set the Base Texture as your video, and the mask video as the Opacity texture.
Let me know if you need any clarification.
Cheers!
Jonathan
Hi Jonathan,
Thanks for your response, but I'm not sure to understand this part of your explanations : "the part you want to be transparent will be black, and everything else white"
The goal is to scan a big poster of someone with your phone, and then you will see the guy goes out from the poster and dance in front of you.
Which part should be black or white in this exemple ?
Thanks !
This works great to an extent, but there is a little drift between the showing video and opacity texture any thoughts on how to sync them?
I have the same latency problem. do you have any solution for sync ?
The link will work if you highlight it and right click and pick, go to...
Maybe the Segmentation options may help?
I used to use Lens Studio a while back and only now getting back into it again, so I could be wrong or things have changed.
