Possible to Track Moment When Lens is fully loaded?

  • It sort of depends...the lens should already be done loading when the loading screen on Snapchat is done or right after. Unless you are doing whole lot of scripting maybe.

The lens turn on event fires when the lens starts, which is after the initialization event. I'm guessing that is what you want.

  • Hey Brandon,

the thing is on an iphone SE my lens - which is close to 4MB Size and has about the limit of triangles - loads wayyyyy slower, so that my custom hint fires already before my objects are fully loaded.

I in fact have a lot of scripts that might interfere... :-( how would you approach a situation like that?

    thanks dude.

    Cheers eL

  • Hey eL Be,

Like Brandon said, the TurnOnEvent is fired when the lens is loaded, so that should do what you need. As for the load time, that completely depends on what device you're using. If your phone isn't using a more recent chipset that is better optimized for AR, chances are it will load slower. If you want to make sure your lens works well on all devices, it's best to try to better optimize your assets. In your case, this means reducing the Triangle count on your 3D models, and also possibly compressing the textures. Check out this page on how to best optimize your lenses - https://lensstudio.snapchat.com/guides/submission/performance-and-optimization/
