Can we use Segmentation (Portrait Shoulder) to preview t-shirts?
Hey everyone
I was just wondering - can we use Segmentation (Portrait Shoulder) to preview t-shirts?
I tried it - but the logo on the t shirt doesn't "stick" to me. It just floats on screen at the same location.
Have you tried using segmentation (portrait shoulder mode) to preview t-shorts?
Thanks a bunch
This question interests me too! I tried different solutions but for a bad result
Thanks for the answers
Hi Shariq, portrait shoulder will allow you to segment the user's shoulders with a color or texture. That said, the texture doesn't "track" to the shoulders. It's instead masked out by the shoulders. It seems like what you want is to stick a logo to the portrait shoulder area. Unfortunately, you do not have the ability to track the center of the portrait shoulder segmentation so you will not be able to do this as proposed. The only way to simulate the effect is to attach the logo to the head via Face Sprite (https://lensstudio.snapchat.com/guides/face/face-sprite/) and then positioning it below the chin. Then, make this face sprite respect segmentation (see "adding additional objects" section of https://lensstudio.snapchat.com/templates/face/segmentation/).
There, the logo will be attached to the head and be segmented by the portrait shoulder mask. Note that in this case, the logo will rotate with the head because it's attached to the head.
Travis thats a good hack!
Will try it today. Although the shoulder segmentation basically does it from the neck all the way to all your hands/ body, etc.
So hard to make it look like a t-shirt. Any ideas on how to make it look like a piece of clothing - rather than a full body drape?
Thanks man - you're such a creative soul.
Yah unfortunately no, we don't have a t-shirt segmentation system or shoulder tracking. The way I've seen this done in the past is to simply attach a 2D Sprite of a t-shirt (or 3D object of a shirt) to the head but moved vertically down. It looks okay when the head is straight up but breaks down when the user rotates the head. That said, you can counteract this rotation with script.
Check out my comment in this post for a script that forces the head attachment to be always facing down:

We'll keep this in mind though for future features!
Cool thanks Travis!
