A deeper "look"

  • Hi Austin!

There is a guide for Eye Color in the Lens Studio documentation found here:

Basically, there are two modes. One allows you to simply apply a color to the eyes with different blend modes. Another allows you to import a texture (you should use a square texture here) and it overlays the texture to the eyes. To enabled Texture mode, set the Mode dropdown to Texture. This is perfect if you want to give someone cat eyes or subtly add a reflection to the eyes.

  • I did end up seeing that but for instance let's say I want to make something similar but on the sclera of the eye

  • The eye color effect only applies to the pupil and not the whites of the eye.

You can use the Face Mask effect to apply a texture to the entire eye. Create a new Face Mask and input the texture you'd like to overlay over the eyes. Assign this texture to the Texture field of the Face Mask in the Inspector. Then, adjust the Texture points in the Scene panel so that the eye points align with your eye texture. For more information on Face Mask, check here:

  • I was thinking there was a better way. It seems that when I create a texture for eyes the artboard can't incorporate levels or hue/saturation layers leaving the texture to be just black paint. I'll just have to learn more over some time. Thank you for your help!

  • You might want to try using a different blend mode for the texture you are exporting. Perhaps try multiply for the texture?
