Create 2D/3D Background for Face Lenses?

Hello!

I saw this question on setting a background here though, this only seems to work with scenes, not with face lenses. Is it possible to create a background (3D or just 2D image) for face lenses? I tried with a 2D plane and it seems the persons head ends up just poking through, with the neck down behind the background. Does this require a custom head tracking occluder?
