Any way to create a portal with 360 video?

  • Theoretically, it's possible but I've never tried it. Here's how I think you'd approach it:

    • Use the Look Around template which has a camera with a Gyroscope allowing you to look 360 around the scene
    • You would need to create an inverted 3D sphere that's placed at the origin of the scene (completely surrounding the camera).
    • You need to make sure your 3D sphere is UV mapped to whatever spherical projection your 360 video is. This is where it might get a bit tricky. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oklmDQx17HI depending on the type of projection your 360 video is in.
    • Your 360 video needs to be exported into a sprite sheet sequence and then imported as a 2D animated texture. https://lensstudio.snapchat.com/guides/2d/2d-animation/
    • Keep in mind that you still need to adhere to the 4 mb final lens size
    • Finally, you can need to apply your 2D animation as the main texture of your 3D inverted sphere

Let me know if you get this working! I might try to experiment with this on my end as well.
