Problems importing 3D model
Hi!
I created a cute little robot in 3Ds max, with some basic materials and exported it as FBX with the settings as suggested by Lens' help pages.
However, I get this:
- why is the placement and rotation of all objects wrong? It seems that the object hierarchy, pivot points, scaling and rotation all is ignored by Lens Studio?
- why do I see a UVW checker pattern?
- why are all materials gone?
Importing the same file in Unity3D gives this result
C´mon Lens studio! You can do better! ;)
Hey Jelmer,
In order for Lens Studio to recognize your material, you need to bake your materials from any 3D software to textures.
Make sure your textures saved as PNG or JPEG file format and also when your exporting your model make sure to check the "Embed Media" check box.
Best,
Amir
Ok thanks, but the main issue here is the 3D model itself, it is all over the place... :/ Any idea why?
Hey Jelmer,
Is your model skinned? If it's skinned object you need to reset Xform before skinning process.
You can reset your Xform using this guide.
Best,
Amir.
Thanks, no it is not skinned.. it's simple poly objects.. It does have custom pivot point locations and one arm is mirrored and certain objects are children of other objects.
This is pretty unexpected result though, especially since Unity can read the FBX perfectly fine, so it is something that is not working well with Lens Studio unfortunately..
I can't use lens studio like this..
I am having the same issues. Something is happening with the pivots and it jumbles the model like crazy. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I have the same problem, I can't import a group of objects with only a scale animation on the group/dummy from 3dsmax. everything has an Xform applied. I try everything (center pivots, or everything at 0 or all childs objects with the same parents pivots). I really need help !
