Snapchat version required for iOS?
I am unable to pair my iOS device or unlock a Lens using the Snapcode after a Lens has been uploaded and approved.
Windows 10 - Lens Studio
iOS 9.3.5 on a iPod v6, 64GB / Snapchat v10.23.5.0
It is possible that I need a higher iOS version? When using Snapchat to load the lens, I get a
"You're using an outdated version of Snapchat. Please update the app before unlocking this filter."
According to the Apple App Store, I am using the lasted version.
Hi Brian,
Yes you will need a higher iOS version. The information shown by the App Store shows the newest version of the app regardless of your current iOS version, not you current app version. You should see a compatibility requirement of iOS 10.0 or later in the App Store information section.
You can see your current Snapchat version by going into “Settings” and swiping all the way to the bottom beneath “Log Out”. Lenses created in Lens Studio requires version 10.23 or higher.
Let me know if you have any further questions and I’d be happy to help.
Thanks!
Jon
This might be a silly question, but you do need a compatible PHONE that uses the ARkit or ARCore technology to run these filters as well... like, an iPhone 6 won't run ARKit, but an iPhone 6S can...
Please let me know if I am way off on this. I would be super impressed if Snapchat uses some crazy wizardry to achieve this on pre ARkit and ARCore phones.
Hi Topher,
You do not need ARKit nor ARCore to use Snapchat lenses.
Hope this helps!
